Camect Powers Up AI on 4K Cameras With 11th Gen Intel® Core™ Processors

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Camect, with industry leading analytics accuracy for video surveillance, has optimized its software on 11th Generation Intel® Core™ processors to increase performance and process artificial intelligence (AI) simultaneously across more cameras. Camect smart camera hubs with 11th Generation Intel® Core™ processors are now able to process analytics for up to twelve 4K cameras, or 96 MP of total camera resolution.

“We chose OpenVINO™ and VAAPI because they offer the most video encoding and AI acceleration features. Using these tools for our video processing and AI inferencing helped us achieve a 4x increase in performance with the 11th generation Intel® systems. We can’t wait for the next generation.”Tweet this

Camect uses artificial intelligence to detect events of interest observed by video cameras and provide highly accurate and informative alerts. Camect hubs preserve privacy and use little internet bandwidth by storing and analyzing all video data locally at the edge of the network instead of sending video data to the cloud. Camect can process video from many HD cameras but commercial and residential users increasingly demand higher 4K resolution in order to cover larger areas with sharper images. 4K video improves the detection of security events by providing greater detail to understand what a camera is observing. As a result, many commercial businesses and homeowners are installing 4K cameras and require correspondingly more processing power.

Intel recently released the 11th Generation Intel® Core™ processors with Iris Xe Graphics, representing a significant leap forward in integrated GPU performance. Camect has optimized its software to efficiently process camera video and AI on the latest 11th generation Intel® NUC systems built on these processors. Camect also used Intel® OpenVINO™ developer tools to tune and optimize AI inference and VAAPI Video for video encoding and decoding.

Per Camect’s co-founder Chao Liu, “We chose OpenVINO™ and VAAPI because they offer the most video encoding and AI acceleration features. Using these tools for our video processing and AI inferencing helped us achieve a 4x increase in performance with the 11th generation Intel® systems. We can’t wait for the next generation.”

The results enable Camect’s smart camera hubs with 11th generation Intel® systems to simultaneously process AI-based detection and alerts for up to twelve 4K cameras or forty eight HD cameras (total of 96 megapixels of coverage). With this capability Camect hubs based on the newer 11th generation NUC offer premium AI performance at an affordable price. Camect’s optimizations based on Intel®developer tools will easily extend to future generations of Intel® processors.

Camect on 11th generation Intel® systems is expected to be available in the coming months depending on supply availability. Follow Camect through social media or Camect.com for updates on availability. You can also learn more about 11th generation Intel®processors and OpenVINO™ at Intel.com.
